Bill Memorial Library will host Groton resident Charles Ebbinghaus for an informative program on flags of the American Revolution on Saturday, June 20, at 1 PM. Ebbinghaus is a flag collector and vexillologist, an expert on the history, symbolism and use of flags. He will display flags from his collection during his talk. This program is free, but registration is required. You can register online using the button below or call the library at 860-445-0392.
A Groton city resident for more than 60 years, Ebbinghaus developed a keen interest in history, particularly military history, while in elementary school. He has had a lifelong passion for flags, specifically those used to track movement on battle maps. For 36 years, he was a chemist at Pfizer.
The Bill Memorial Library turned 135 years old in 2025. In addition to offering programs for patrons of all ages, it holds an extensive collection of books and media for children, teens and adults, including downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, museum passes and discount tickets.
