Property tax exemptions available for veterans living in Groton

The assessor’s office has issued a reminder to all Groton residents that veteran exemptions are available for property taxes.
The last filing day for a veteran exemption for the 2019 Grand List is Sept. 30, 2019. Widows and widowers also may be entitled to veteran exemptions. An original or certified copy of an honorable discharge, or DD214, must be recorded with the town clerk’s office. To receive an exemption, the individual must be a resident of Groton and have served 90 or more cumulative days, except where the war lasted less than 90 days.
