A nearly decade-in-the-making plan for an apartment development on Gold Star Highway has met one of the final approval steps it needs to come to fruition.
The Planning and Zoning Commission last week approved a plan for 395 market-rate apartments at 517, 529, 553 and 571 Gold Star Highway between the Gold Star Office Park and the former Gold Star Inn and Suites.
The proposed Columbia Crossing development calls for five, five-story apartment buildings and a clubhouse with fitness and lounge areas, an outdoor pool, pickleball courts, outdoor seating and bike storage, as well as 527 parking spaces, landscaping, sidewalks and a trail connection to the Leo Antonino Preserve to the south.
