Groton Town Council selects apartments for former Pleasant Valley School

The Town Council has chosen Spinnaker Real Estate Partners and its proposal for an apartment complex as the preferred development team and project concept for the redevelopment of the Pleasant Valley School property.

The Norwalk-based company is proposing to construct 300 market-rate and affordable apartments with outdoor space for tenants and community members at the 16.7-acre former school property on Pleasant Valley Road South off Route 12.

Nearby residents have complained about a lack of park space in the western side of town and called for a playground or park there.

During the Aug. 5 Town Council meeting, the council voted 8-1, with Councilor Portia Bordelon opposed, to select Spinnaker and allow Town Manager John Burt "to finalize terms and legal agreements for the sale of the property."
