Historian highlights 'forgotten' stories of Fort Griswold defenders

Historian Matthew Reardon walked Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park on Saturday while reflecting on newly discovered defenders of the fort during the Battle of Groton Heights.
Reardon, the author of "The Traitor's Homecoming: Benedict Arnold's Raid on New London, Connecticut, September 4-13, 1781," found through his research 26 defenders that are not on the plaque of defenders at Fort Griswold or on recent lists of the 1781 battle.
