New early childhood education center to open in Groton for upcoming school year

The Mary Morrisson Early Childhood School will serve about 180 students, increasing the district's capacity by about 50 students, said Groton Public Schools Grants Facilitator Shannon Weigle.
The new center will have 10 full-day prekindergarten classrooms for 4-year-olds, said Superintendent of Schools Susan Austin. The classes, with a capacity for 15 to 18 students, are for children who turn 4 by Sept. 1 and will be eligible for kindergarten the following year.
