Groton climate plan calls for resilience hubs, trees, community conversations

A virtual resilience hub. Community discussions about sea level rise and flood preparedness. Planting trees in areas vulnerable to heat. Expanding sidewalks and crosswalks between neighborhoods, nature areas and amenities.

Those are some of the actions recommended in a new climate action plan.

The “Climate-Ready Groton” plan will serve as a road map to help the town reduce emissions, increase climate adaptation and resilience, and guide efforts over the next five years, while continuing to engage the community, said Town of Groton Sustainability and Resilience Specialist Lisa Noriega.
