Located just a few miles east from the mouth of the Thames River (and a 3 hour drive from NYC), Mystic, Connecticut is one of the best small towns you’ve never heard of. Its seaport is famous for launching over 600 ships since the early 1700s, the beautiful aquarium hosts beluga whales and penguins, and the beach is surprisingly nice.
